Bugging out, have you heard?
I am not one to panic but I am one to prepare. That is why so often I remind readers to keep a well stocked pantry. Today, there is a new dialogue out there that can be unsettling to anyone - bugging out. What does that mean? It means being prepared to leave your home. Why would that happen? If you have been following the news lately, we live in a world with much strife. We live in a world where everything is dependent upon energy and hence we have conflict as in control over energy sources, and their distribution. We can and should pray that conflicts in the world will never escalate into a major event. My heart goes out to all people currently in harms way. As for many of us here and now, we cannot imagine the experience of having to fight for our life or our homes. Nonetheless, there could be an event that would require you to either leave your home or to remain there roughing/toughing it out till things are back online, i.e. long term power outage. There is no need to assume anything will happen but it is always wise to be prepared, at least a bit. I recommend having plenty of toilet paper, bottled water, flashlights/batteries, blankets and a first aid kit as you never know who might need a band-aide; also, aspirin and anti-biotic cream including alcohol.
Of course, food is essential. Keep it simple: dried fruits, peanut butter or almond butter in tubes if you can find, bars of chocolate, powdered milk, cheese sticks, beef jerky and even pop corn to name a few. Practically, you want to have diversity and yet not be burdened down with heavy items or things you have to cook. There are companies that have a number of dried food meals that you use quickly... just add water. It really depends on your budget and location.

I have tried the wise food products and can say that they are exactly what they say they are... easy to prepare and satisfy hunger.
